Tapiz 2024<\/strong> aborda los movimientos migratorios recientes entre el norte de \u00c1frica y Europa, poniendo en evidencia las contradicciones de un sistema que genera desplazamientos masivos mientras invierte miles de millones en contenerlos. La obra nos interpela desde lo performativo: exige que atravesemos sus piezas para confrontarnos con nuestra posici\u00f3n en la sociedad. el 86 % acabar\u00e1 en otra ciudad de su propio pa\u00eds o en un pa\u00eds en v\u00edas de desarrollo en el mejor de los casos.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>De los m\u00e1s de 60 mil millones de euros que Europa se ha gastado en los \u00faltimos 5 a\u00f1os en contener estos movimientos de poblaci\u00f3n, Espa\u00f1a se gasta 10 millones al a\u00f1o en el mantenimiento de las vallas de Ceuta y Melilla.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Tapiz 2024 pretende incidir en nuestro rol de observadores activos, participantes necesarios para la activaci\u00f3n de la propuesta, por un lado performativamente ya que debemos atravesar\u00a0 las piezas, para llevarnos a reflexionar sobre nuestro papel en la sociedad. La posici\u00f3n que ocupamos determina la distancia que mantenemos no s\u00f3lo entre nosotros o entre nosotros y la sociedad, sino tambi\u00e9n entre nosotros y lo que nos rodea y a lo que nos enfrentamos, ya sea una cuesti\u00f3n \u00e9tica, una problem\u00e1tica concreta o una obra de arte. Tapiz 2024<\/em> addresses recent migratory movements between North Africa and Europe, highlighting the contradictions of a system that generates mass displacement while investing billions in containing it. The work confronts us performatively: it demands that we walk through its pieces to confront our position in society. Because it is from that position\u2014of privilege, indifference, unease\u2014that the distance between image and reality, between ethics and politics, between those who move out of necessity and those of us who watch without moving, is defined.<\/p>\n<p>This piece has been possible thanks to the support of Ayudas a la Creaci\u00f3n Contempor\u00e1nea del Ayuntamiento de Madrid 2024-2025<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Migratory flows are nothing new to humanity: this is how we have built what we understand as civilization. However, the population movements we have been experiencing in recent years are often driven by economic and geopolitical strategies that are, in many cases, hard to justify.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The consumption needs of industrialized countries set the pattern for these strategies\u2014just as in colonial times\u2014now under the pale light of international trading floors and, in many cases, accompanied by their corresponding wars.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This is forcing tens of millions of people to leave their homes in Africa and the Middle East alone, but only 14% of them will reach an industrialized country; 86% end up in another city in their own country or, in the best case scenario, in a developing country.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Of the more than \u20ac60 billion that Europe has spent in the last five years on containing these population movements, Spain spends \u20ac10 million a year to maintain the border fences of Ceuta and Melilla.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><em>Tapiz 2024<\/em> aims to influence our role as active observers, necessary participants for the activation of the proposal, first and foremost on a performative level, since we must pass through the pieces, prompting us to reflect on our role in society<strong>.<\/strong> The position we occupy determines the distance we maintain not only between ourselves or between ourselves and society, but also between ourselves and what surrounds us and what we face, whether it be an ethical issue, a specific problem, or a work of art.
