En 1936 un golpe de estado contra el gobierno elegido democr\u00e1ticamente en Espa\u00f1a provoc\u00f3 una sangrienta guerra. Tres a\u00f1os de guerra despu\u00e9s, el triunfo de los golpistas dio paso a una dictadura no menos sangrienta y a una represi\u00f3n contra los vencidos que dur\u00f3 cerca de 40 a\u00f1os; campos de concentraci\u00f3n, c\u00e1rceles, torturas, violaciones, fusilamientos y por supuesto miedo, intolerancia y venganza formaron parte del estilo de vida impuesto durante la guerra y los a\u00f1os posteriores. Hasta el a\u00f1o 1946 aproximadamente, se acab\u00f3 convirtiendo en pr\u00e1ctica habitual humillar, fusilar y enterrar en cualquier lugar a cualquiera que fuera se\u00f1alado como simpatizante de la rep\u00fablica, su gobierno o idearios, se estigmatiz\u00f3 a mujeres y hombres por igual y por supuesto a sus hijos. Seg\u00fan datos recogidos en el auto emitido por el juez Garz\u00f3n de la Audiencia Nacional con fecha 16 de octubre de 2008, figura la cifra de 114.266 muertos pero la estimaci\u00f3n de los peritos es de alrededor de 150.000 cuerpos enterrados en m\u00e1s de 2.000 fosas ilegales, diseminadas por nuestra geograf\u00eda, junto a las tapias de los cementerios, en mitad de los campos o en las cunetas de nuestras carreteras. M\u00e1s de 70 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s la mayor parte de estas fosas siguen ah\u00ed y los cuerpos de las v\u00edctimas que albergan tambi\u00e9n siguen ah\u00ed y sobre ellos hemos construido nuestro presente.<\/div>\n

Bajo el t\u00edtulo\u00a0ALGUIEN AH\u00cd<\/b>, Carrasco & Mateos ha realizado una serie de 5 piezas de video en las que un plano fijo recoge el lugar exacto de sendas fosas ilegales en las que aun se encuentran enterrados los cuerpos de las victimas del franquismo que a dia de hoy no han sido exhumadas. En esos planos solo el tiempo avanza, apenas nada se mueve, solo un leve sonido nos hace pensar que el tiempo no se ha detenido.<\/div>\n

In 1936, a coup against the democratically elected government in Spain led to a bloody war. Three years later, the coup leaders’ victory gave way to a dictatorship that was no less bloody and to a repression of the defeated that lasted nearly 40 years. Concentration camps, prisons, torture, rape, executions, and, of course, fear, intolerance, and revenge were part of the lifestyle imposed during the war and the years that followed. Until approximately 1946, it became common practice to humiliate, shoot, and bury anyone anywhere who was identified as a sympathizer of the republic, its government, or its ideas. Women and men were stigmatized equally, as were their children. According to data collected in the order issued by Judge Garz\u00f3n of the National Court on October 16, 2008, the figure recorded is 114,266 deaths, but experts estimate that there are around 150,000 bodies buried in more than 2,000 illegal graves scattered across the country, next to cemetery walls, in the middle of fields, or by the sides of roads. More than 70 years later, most of these graves, and the bodies within them, remain in place \u2014 our present has been built over them.<\/div>\n

Under the title ALGUIEN AH\u00cd (SOMEONE THERE), Carrasco & Mateos have have created a series of five video pieces in which a fixed shot captures the exact location of illegal graves where the bodies of victims of Franco’s regime still lie buried and have yet to be exhumed. In these shots, only time moves forward; almost nothing else moves, and only a faint sound reminds us that time is still passing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
